Meme-o-rama
There is a meme on facebook that I couldn’t resist taking part in. This is not normal for me. I’m not a big fan of spam, and try to avoid clogging the tubes that make up the internet — at least any more than the obvious. Here’s what I posted:
Make Things – Pay It Forward:
Brave People Make Things
The first five (5) people to respond to this post will get something made by me.
This offer does have some restrictions and limitations so please read carefully:
1. I make no guarantees that you will like what I make. What you get is what you get.
2. What I create will be just for you, with love.
3. It’ll be done this year (2009).
4. I will not give you any clue what it’s going to be. It will be something made in the real world and not something cyber. It may be weird or beautiful. Or it may be monstrous and annoying. Heck, I might bake something for you and mail it to you. Who knows? Not you, that’s for sure!
5. I reserve the right to do something strange.
6. In return, all you need to do is post this text into a note of your own and make 5 things for the first 5 to respond to your note.
7. Send your mailing address if you don’t live close to me!
I’ve started working on my five things! I don’t want to give anything away, yet, but let’s say that it does involve some stained jatoba. I’m only working on one at the moment, but have several ideas. When I get something more, I’ll post some pics.

Jessica-
No problem. You can join in next time. I think you have enough going on right now.

Hi Tina,
I’ve been looking on line for ideas on creative staining and came across your project. I have just stripped our breakfast table and want to use really intense stains to do something fun and funky. Don’t quite know what or how yet, but maybe tape will have a part to play. Thanks for the idea.
I’m planning on using a product called NRG Solar-Lux as a colorant and Watco as the carrier. If you have any guidance for a newbie, would luv it.

Hey Kerry-
The best advice I can give you is to use lots of masking. Stains spread and are rather uncontrollable otherwise — unless you’re looking for that sort of thing. I’d also suggest practicing a bit on something. Please, let me know how it turns out!
Good luck!
