While I wait for the coffee to kick in, and the lines at the polls to go down, I can blog.

This summer my husband and I decided to build a drum for him. We took an oversized floor tom (or maybe it’s a small bass drum on it’s side) and made it into our version of a cocktail kit. He did all the research and ordered all the parts, I helped measure and drill the holes, and then the staining.  He spent time while I played with stain adapting the new bass drum pedal.  He had to change it to hit the bottom side of the new drum.

A new experiment for T.   I’m entering the blogosphere. Most of the time, I’m a stagehand.  But, to keep my sanity I stain wood, take photographs or start some other crazy project.  This is where I intend to share those projects.  To give you an example, this week, since I’ve had some free time, I’ve been making sugar skulls out of various things –both cupcakes and chocolate.  (They’re not perfect, but I’m still learnin’.)

I also uploaded a new photo to JPG mag.  The theme is Shoot from the Hip, vote for me if you like it!The challenge was to take a picture without looking through the viewfinder.  How’d I do? However, the stained wood projects are the ones that have been with me the longest.  My last big project was to build and stain a drum with my husband. Here’s a sneak peak:

I love Halloween, always have, but this year I’ve gotten in to Sugar Skulls.  And, I’ve been making them my way.  My kind husband found a cake pan at PushinDaisies.com, and  I couldn’t wait to try it out.  I went with your basic white cupcake, and decided to cut them in half so that I could add icing in the middle.

Here’s the finished versions.  You’ll have to take my word for it, but they are yummy.

And, after some cream cheese frosting:
