Stained Woods is on the move

April 6, 2011

Yes, it’s true. I am no longer living in Indiana, and have moved to Aberdeen, South Dakota.  I’m still setting up the new work space, and can’t wait to get back to staining wood.  Until then, check out my new tumblr.  Hub Citizen. I’m attempting to track what I seen and learn about my new home.

Christmas creativity

December 19, 2010

Since my usual work stations have been cleaned, and many of my tools put into boxes, I decided to get creative with sweets.  And, not wanting to get the kitchen too messy, I settled on Seven Layer Bars with dark chocolate chips and macadamia nuts.  Adding a little food coloring to the coconut makes them more festive.   My other treat of the day:  Rice Krispie Treats.  Nothing fancy, but so tasty.

Fourth of July Weekend

July 8, 2010

My husband and I — along with a new lens for the camera — decided on a last minute trip to Chicago for FitzGerald’s American Music Festival. We both wanted to see the Blasters with special guest/original member Dave Alvin.  My husband assured me that I’d enjoy the rest of the acts, and I trust him.  I rearranged my work schedule and off we went.  I was not disappointed.  Two nights of the festival, three different stages, good fun, plenty of waitresses and a Cubs game to fill the time between days.  We even had paper napkin fireworks! If you want to hear more about the festival, check out this review or this one.  Trust me, it was a great festival, and I wouldn’t hesitate to return.  My new lens served me well, too.  Take a look.  Oh, and this is just a small sample, check the reviews above or here for more pics.

Summer pics

August 10, 2009

I’ve been outside, it being summer and all.  Just thought I’d share a few images I’ve stumbled across.

I"ve been trying to grown sunflowers for years, and finally managed to get a few.

Seeing Texas

June 16, 2009

My husband I went on a BBQ tour of Texas recently.  I thought I’d share a map of the Austin area — with pictures — of some of our adventures. Feel free to click around. Any questions or comments are always welcome. Next time, Dallas, I’ll be sure to include you, too.

I should mention the Lone Star State is keeping true to its name. I saw stars everywhere, and I took pics!
