Since my usual work stations have been cleaned, and many of my tools put into boxes, I decided to get creative with sweets. And, not wanting to get the kitchen too messy, I settled on Seven Layer Bars with dark chocolate chips and macadamia nuts. Adding a little food coloring to the coconut makes them more festive. My other treat of the day: Rice Krispie Treats. Nothing fancy, but so tasty.

Craft show
December 3, 2009Yes, it’s true. I’ve been working on some things for an upcoming craft show. Mostly jatoba ornaments and more of the “tag” style from last year. I wish I had decided to do this show more than two weeks ago — I might not have felt quite so frantic this past week. However, being the night before, I’m finally feeling as if I won’t need to be up all night finishing and tung-oiling. I’ll also be taking some trivets and coaster sets that I’ve been meaning to put up on Etsy. Here’s what I’ve been working on:
Finished ornaments
December 16, 2008Yes, it’s true. I’ve managed to finish some ornaments over a week before Christmas. I’m not sure how, but I do know that I haven’t baked anything, yet. So, here’s what they look like after several coats of high gloss tung oil finish.
Ornaments!
December 11, 2008I had to put away my trivets for a little bit. I realized that my next idea was on a time crunch. Ornaments!! I found some little tag-shaped craft wood. (Yes, I spend a decent amount of time at Michael’s.) A few round ones, and am turning them into stained wood ornaments. So far, I like them, and think they have great potential. This seems like a natural holiday project. Perhaps an annual one? Maybe I should just give them as gifts?

I guess I should get back to work. Only a few are out of the stain phase. Tick, tock!
