Adventures in masking

November 27, 2010

Stained Woods and I are in the process of moving to South Dakota.  Here’s a few pics of my dismantled work spaces.

Oh, and I’ve found some new masking materials.  Tape with attached plastic sheeting for additional masking.  Very useful for painting the ceiling, but not sure if it will be added into the Stained Woods inventory.

Yes, the stained glass below is my work, too.

New camera lens

January 10, 2010

It’s true, I’ve saved up my pennies and purchased a new lens for my camera.  I won’t bore you with the details, but will happily share pics from my first adventure out with it.  It just so happens that Bloomington — along with a big chunk of the country — is getting covered in snow.  This should be fun.

If you have any camera purchasing questions check out this guy:  Ken Rockwell.  He has yet to steer me wrong.  Thanks, Ken!

At Bryan Park

The children were all sledding.

The park was actually full of people.  All sledding — no sitting.

To be honest, it was very cold, and  I didn’t end up staying out very long.  I promise to take lots more in the future.

The Farmers Market turned Winter Market

November 30, 2008

Yesterday morning after breakfast downtown, my husband and I stumbled into the Winter Market.  The usual gang of veggie and flower sellers weren’t there, but the coffee place was as popular as ever.  Bloomington’s market had an end-of-year hurrah by having many local artisans set up shop for the day.  There were Tuba Santas and carriage rides, even a reindeer or two! It was all very festive.

I like to check out the art to see what’s new and if anything inspires me.   I really fell for this wooden ring from Studio AMF.  She uses braille as a design element.  What a great idea!

I also stopped in at the Tattoo Dreams stall.  Lots of wood items, but embellished with stamps, using letters and words –which always interests me.  I guess we didn’t spend enough time there, because I keep thinking about one of her boxes that might have been Day of the Dead inspired.  I think the chilly weather got the best of me.

Here’s are a few Bloomington pics that I took this week:
