If you’ve been reading this blog you know I’ve been keeping an eye on the Hoagy Carmichael statue outside the IU Auditorium. I’ve taken so many shots of him and the various items that people have left him over the last few years that I’ve started a new blog about it. I give you: Hoagyland! Please feel free to check back often!

June 14, 2010Hoagy Carmichael
May 14, 2009One of my ongoing projects is taking pictures of Hoagy Carmichael. Yes, I realize he died in 1981, but a statue of him was placed near the stage door of IU Auditorium last fall. He’s very popular. People like to leave him things. I like to think they are offerings to a legend as a way to ensure a good show for those about to perform. I plan to take pictures of as many of these items that I can.

Another idea, and at this point I’m almost frantically trying to remember all of these ideas. I can’t forget! Who knows when I’ll be able to sketch something. Of all the unlikely places to get inspired….
